Ben Tuff

Crisis Response Manager

As a Crisis Response Manager, Ben brings both professional expertise and lived experience to his work supporting individuals and families navigating recovery and mental health concerns. With a background in education and recovery advocacy, he has spent years helping adolescents, young adults, and families build resilience, improve communication, and work toward lasting change.

After graduating from Colby College, Ben began his career teaching at junior boarding schools and boarding high schools, where he worked closely with students from around the world. During this time, he also experienced firsthand the pressures and challenges that can accompany high-performance academic environments. In 2012, after facing his own personal challenges related to substance use, Ben made the life-changing decision to pursue recovery. Following treatment at Silver Hill Hospital, he committed himself not only to his own recovery journey but also to supporting and educating others navigating substance use and co-occurring concerns.

Ben specializes in Substance Use Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and co-occurring diagnoses, with a focus on helping individuals build confidence, resilience, and sustainable recovery. In addition to his clinical and case management work, he is deeply committed to community education and reducing the stigma surrounding addiction through speaking engagements, school outreach, and advocacy initiatives.

As the founder of Swim Tuff, Ben uses storytelling, education, and film to encourage hope, connection, and healing for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. His lifelong connection to the ocean and swimming continues to shape his perspective, providing a sense of discipline, balance, and reflection that informs both his personal life and his work supporting others in recovery.

Ben will finish earning his degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University in 2027.
