John has more than 15 years experience in the substance use disorder and mental health fields, and is an accomplished musician, producer, engineer and drum tech with more than 150 recording credits. He talks with Diana about the role music plays in healing.

Jon Cohan practices substance use counseling at his office in Concord, MA. He has more than 15 years of experience in substance use disorder and mental health. Jon sits on the Advisory Board of Middlesex Community College’s Addiction Counseling Program and is a board member of The Opioid Spoon Project. He also served on the board of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Central Middlesex from 2018 – 2020. As co-host for The Right Mind Media Podcast, Jon has interviewed Boston Mayor Marty Walsh, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker, and many other notable guests on the subject of addiction, recovery, and mental health issues. Jon is also a professional musician, producer, engineer, and drum tech with more than 150 recording credits to his name. He has worked on records by artists like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fallout Boy, and The Dropkick Murphys. He has shared the stage with Alice Cooper, Chuck Berry, Warren Haynes, Trombone Shorty, and many others. He has published three books and many magazine articles about drumming. Jon is also in long-term recovery from opioid use disorder.
