In this week’s Collegial Conversations, Diana’s guest is Dr. Jeff Ball. Dr. Ball is the CEO and Executive Director of the Psychological Care and Healing Center in Los Angeles. Today he talks with Diana about a variety of mental health issues, including popular psychoanalytic models, the effects of medication, and the importance of healing trauma.

BIO

Dr. Jeff Ball, a native of Los Angeles, received his BA summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UCLA. Here, he earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and completed research on both projective processes in marital relationships and an integrative treatment model of bipolar disorder. Dr. Ball has trained clinically in several treatment modalities but works primarily in a psychoanalytic relational model. His clinical focus has been directed toward personality and mood issues, including depressive and bipolar states. In his role as CEO, Dr. Ball supervises, teaches, and consults at PCH. He presents his model and vision for mental health both within the center as well as in the clinical and academic communities.
