Event focus: Music is far more than background sound. It helps us remember who we are, connects us to those we love, and supports physical and emotional healing when words are no longer enough. For individuals living with cognitive change, serious illness, or the impact of chronic stress, music can become a pathway back to comfort, familiarity, and dignity. For caregivers, it can offer grounding, emotional regulation, and moments of shared joy.
This is the quiet power of music as care: when rhythm, melody, and memory allow us to access parts of a person that illness, grief, or isolation have made harder to reach.
Join us for a clinically grounded exploration of the role music can play in enhancing quality of life, including:
- How music engages the brain’s memory, emotion, and reward systems to support regulation and resilience
- Why musical interventions can reduce anxiety, agitation, and distress, especially in dementia care
- How caregivers and clinicians can incorporate music into routines to support connection, mobility, and daily functioning
- Simple techniques such as humming or rhythmic movement that can calm the nervous system and improve overall well-being
This conversation will offer insight into how music can reduce stress, sustain connection, and help preserve a sense of identity and personhood—especially when other forms of communication become more difficult.
We look forward to your participation in this important discussion with Diana Clark and Hildi Ahee. Register to reserve your spot today.
